What things I would do to make the world better

Nowadays, corruption is becoming very common in the world, especially developing countries. It will get worse if we do not have right methods to prevent its development. For instance, we are easy to escape smuggle crime by paying money to the custom-house in Vietnam. Even using guns to kill somebody is legal when we have money in Cambodia. In fact, it difficultly prevents the development of crime. It originates from unclose rules and humans is easy to thread their way. In order to solve this problem, the important point is to create a tight law which can treat all crime, even though for the police who does not execute their mission.

Secondly, our future generation is getting worse. Teenagers are affected by media and they do not focus on studying.

How culture affects our lives?

People from different countries have different cultures and it affects their lives. Culture exists in each person. They can be influenced by others’ cultures, but they still have an original culture. In my case, I come from Asia and belong to a particular nationality that has influenced my life since I came to Australia.

First of all, the big difference between Asian families and Western families was shown clearly in the way they spend their holiday. Most of the Asian people want to spend their holiday or weekend at home with a small party, while many Western people go to camping with their children. Secondly, the own background affects strongly to their social relationships and work relationships. That happens when you have a job in foreign countries, work with foreigners, or choose a friend. They do not want to find a partner who has different culture and it is hard to understand together. The last thing is the impaction of media exposure of Western countries creates a considerable change in developing countries. In fact, Western technical media grow before Asia over 10 years, so studying and researching about it can improve the Asia media exposure. That is the reason why most of Asian wants to study overseas. In contrary, Asia and Western media exposure create richness in media.

To sum up, in order to expand your knowledge about another culture, we should research about it.

Movie Review

"Mr Nice Guy" was directed by Sammo Hung Kam-Bo and the main actor is Jackie Chan who is famous with a mass of action movies in China. This movie is a comedy mixed with action. The film follows Kam-Bos' plot, a film director, who wants to connect humour and crime in the modern life. His aim is using a big name star of Jackie Chan for his project.

This film will not appeal to everyone because Kam-Bo use too much actions in a long time than focusing on the content of this movie, which make the audience feel bored and annoyed by this. However, it will be interesting with those who like action movies.

Of particular note is the contribution of funny and KungFu master men who can create a laugh by his action. He always create many surprised situations when he acts. For example, while he was fighting crimes, he used a flower vase, tyre motorcycle or everything on the street to punch them.

Secondly, the director wants to focus on Jackie KungFu skills in order to bring dramatics to his movie, that create his success.

This film will definitely appeal to fans of Jackie Chan who enjoy his humour and KungFu.

The little mermaid - my version ^^

Once upon a time, in the deep of the bluest ocean, there was a magnificent place where a Sea King and his daughters lived. It was built with many gaily coloured corals and seashells. The Sea King’s daughters were very beautiful, curious and adventurous, but the youngest, who was the loveliest daughter and also had a beautiful voice when she sang, was very stubborn and haughty with her talent. She always thought that all the good things had to belong to her.

One day, she and her sisters were playing with a flock of fishes when she came close to the surface. She recognized everything above the sea was so pretty, she could see the sky and hear the voices of humans and smell the scent of the flowers, although her father had banned her from going to the surface because she was too young to understand how humans can be bad and she had to keep away from them. Her father said that he would let her go up there when she was fifteen years old.

In order to satisfy her curiosity, she swam along the beach side and tried to enjoy fully the unknown world. She saw a prince lying unconscious on the beach because of the heavy storm the night before. She saved his life and went back to her world. She knew she was a child of the sea and she had to go back to her world, she could never marry a human, but she fell in love with him and wanted the whole world above the sea and also the prince.

She waved her long tail to go back her life and find the magician of the sea to give her two legs. She had to swap her voice, her beauty to have a couple of legs. The day after, she went to the human world and found her prince, but she couldn’t get married with him because he had got married with another princess. She went back to her life hopelessly and realized that she couldn’t attain everything she wanted and she had to treasure everything she had.

Jeannie Baker

The Powerhouse Museum is one of the Sydney’s museums of art, sciences and social history that is located in the head of Sydney, which collects from the fields of industrial, graphics, fashion and interior design, and visual art. The museum which includes all temporary exhibitions and also permanent exhibitions have attracted a large of people participated in and are connected to the many threads of thought and ideas that converge within. The museum represented many kinds of productions such as elements of architecture, photography, ceramics, textiles, jewellery, glass, furniture, fashion, children’s toys, cars, electric guitars, as well as film posters and old advertisements. One of them which attracted me in the first sight is “Belonging” collection of Jeannie Baker.

Jeannie Baker was born on the 2nd November 1950 in Croydan, England. She is a well-known author artist and illustrator of distinguished children’s picture books. She attended Croydon College of Art and Brighton College of Art before immigrating to Australia in 1975 and becoming a children’s writer. She has participated in many exhibitions and has won honours awards such as award of picture book of the year, especially the most notable of which is perhaps “Where the Forest meets the Sea”.

Baker is known with collage pictures. At Art College, she had already begun making her artwork which included using real textures for everything in the scene. Each of them took her two or three years to make it.

I love the way that she used actual scraped and salvaged ‘real’ material as fiber, clay, paper, timber and paint to build up her pictures. Going to details of collage pictures, if she wants to show an area of sand, she uses real sand to describe this that created a lively pictures, also with trees and bird feathers. Furthermore, her works focused on a present range of issue as family, society, environment and Australian's wildlife.

1. The design process used by the team at Animal Logic to develop a motion graphic.

What is Design? and What is my opinion about Design?

What is Design?

Each person and groups have a different design definition by themselves which depend on their thinking and their style. In my opinion, the word 'design' can understand to a noun such as designer and style. On the other hand, the word can be a verb as create and make. Follow that, design is to create and make base on their style in order to create a new products that describe their ideas exactly. Charles Burnette calls it, “…a process of creative and critical thinking that allows information and ideas to be organized, decisions to be made, situations to be improved, and knowledge to be gained.

We can design everywhere, every time what we want and do it for yourself from simple things in your life as design your room, your appearance every morning. It isn't a job if it is your favourites.

What is my opinion about Design?

I like design and I want to create everything which have a special value with myself. My favourite colour is white which is a medium tone and include both warm tone and cold tone that depend on what mood you are at this time. As for me, sometime I looked the white colour which have a lot of meanings, sometimes is no meanings.

Coming back with my major, actually, I really want to study all aspects of design such as printing, fashion, graphic, interior, communication design, etc. However, my primary purpose is digital media design which is focused on visual communication, for example anything that moves or is specifically developed for an onscreen environment, and include interactive design, digital animation, video game so i can create a short movie which make by my ideas. It's so interesting.

About me

My real name is Thuy Pham but my classmate call me with the english name, Christy, because vietnamese name is difficult to say. I am studying in Design Entry Program at BBCB - Billy Blue College of English and I am going to study at BBCD - Billy Blue College of Design in November.

I really like design, so I spend a lot of time on reading design books, and I think that it help me to improve my skills and knowledges about design. My favourite things about designing is the process of making my ideas come to my life.

All of things what i try to do everyday are to learn how to draw, sometimes just sketch what come up with my ideas, go out and take photos but don't have an idea or a reason, just go and do something and be creative all the time.
